Response Essay to the movie BRAVE

While looking in my last blog- trust me, you wouldn't want to see it, I found this response essay, and I thought maybe you would want to see it , for those who need it :) Okay, turning the time machine.....

Last Friday, we saw a movie called 'Brave'. This movie is a 2012 animated film produced by Disney. It is very touching and tells us a valuable lesson: choosing our own fates and realizing the importance of our loved ones.

Merida

Like any other Disney movie, the main character Merida is a princess.. Her mother keeps expecting her to be perfect, like her, and to be a successful leader later on. But Merida is hopelessly drawn to archery, which is out of her mother's topic of being perfect. As her mother keep on forcing her to marry a disagreed marriage, she gets frustrated and runs off to the forest, Merida's favorite place to play and explore on. As she wonders on the forest, she lands on the grounds

covered with tall rocks, and finds a willow of the wasps, believed to lead people to their fates. As the wasps lead Merida to a witch's house, and she offers the witch to buy all of her products and gets a spell, which turns her mother in to a bear. As the two daughter and mother strangles to find a solution, they realize what is really important, love and freedom of fate.

  In this movie, you can often she Melinda and her mom fighting- a lot. I think her mom shouldn't force Merida so much related to her future. Merida wasn't so satisfied with her being perfect, and her mom is keep forcing her and giving her pressure, ignoring the fact that Melinda likes archery better. I think that her mom doesn't even have rights to chose Merida's own fate. Every person should have the freedom to live their own lives with happiness. And following what you like is exactly the part of happiness. But I guess Merida also is responsible because she did not try to discuss the issue with her mom. What they really should have is understanding each other. Even adults should listen from their children. Only if they had listened to each other!

   My second response to the movie is about Merida's rather selfish attitudes towards others. I'm not saying she should ignore her opinion's toward her mother was wrong. Even though Merida was angry, she shouldn't have lied to her mother and acted naughtily. She should have sat down with her mother,  calmly discussing without violence, not ripping the travesty off. Even if she was angry, that kind of behavior is unacceptable for healthy relationship with her mom. Or, chaos will happen, and it did.

  But the movie taught us a lot of lessons. Te first lesson was managing your anger. Because Merida couldn't, her mother almost turned into a BEAR. This shows that we should be careful of what we wish for, and try to manage the anger you and main .
The second lesson was about choosing your own fate, even if you become successful,
you wouldn't be happy. Like Merida, you should choose your own fate and future, while of course taking the responsibility for it.

 The third, love. In the movie, Merida doesn't understand her mother, but when her mother turns into a bear, comes to understands her mother's love, hope, and thanks towards her. As in the movie, we should realize the love around us and be thankful for it.

  'Brave' was a very touching story and taught me a lot of lessons. I think the movie had a great structure too. It was a nice move!

So, what is this Diamante poem ?

Diamante poem is a style of poetry - yes, we know that,  that is made up of seven lines. The words form the shape of a diamond- huh, who knew there could be a poem out of every girl's best friend ?  The form was developed by Iris Tiedt in A New Poetry Form: The Diamante ..

A diamante poem is a poem that makes the shape of a diamond, and the poem can be used in two ways, either comparing and contrasting two different subjects, like, diamonds or gold- two shiny and fabulous objects *wink-  or naming synonyms and antonyms for another subject. 

In the poems, the subject is named in one word in the first line. The second line consists of two adjectives describing the subject, and the third line contains three verbs ending in the suffix -ing which are related to the subject. A fourth line then has four nouns, again related to the subject, but only the first two words are related to the first subject. The other two words describe the opposite subject. The lines then are put in reverse, leading to and relating to either a second subject or a synonym for the first. and which makes up 7 lines, yes, that isn't too bad, to make up this poem.

School Uniforms : written in a student's view

• All around the world, students wear certain clothing. Which is school uniforms .Even In Korea, these school uniforms are mandatory for students up to 14.  Every parent ad teacher force the students to wear these 'school uniforms.' Well- the real problem is is this good for students? Well. school uniforms are not beneficial for students.
•   First of all, school uniforms stop students from socializing with other student.s I fundamentally agree that students may wear some inappropriate clothes without school uniforms, But this is also a part if students' expressions. Thus, clothes help us to express ourselves. But school uniforms are just makes students hide themselves. Moreover, because students can do this they ca also socialize with other students. Clothes- they are also big part of self expressions.
•   Second, it's against student's rights and it causes stress. Every student also has rights  to express themselves. As I said before, but school uniforms are just ignoring them. And because of this, students can also feel stress and their grades will also decrease. There is an actual study for this: at one school, the grades had fallen quickley and students also surveyed that school uniforms gives them stress.
•  Those were my two reasons why school uniforms are bad. But however there are also these opposition arguments: School uniforms makes student focus in achedemic studies. Moreover, if the students wear school uniforms, they can less focus on fashion. However, this isn't true. If they wear school uniforms, they can get stress. They can also get stress , and this is truly shown as scientific result.
•  Second, some people say school uniforms ca n prevent school bullying. In addition, they believe that school uniforms can prevent them being judged for what they wear. However, this is also wrong. Because in school may people have the same economic situations because they all live near each other, since its a common fact that most people prefer to go to school which they are nearest at pointed at their houses.

December 30, 2013 ;

Hah. Today was an another day at my lazy week. I know, in Korea, its suppose to be Monday and me, as a middle schooler, I should go to school. But since I go to a bording school in Jeju, and its vacation week today, I guess I'm lying on my bed in my house, in Seoul. It was a typical day until my twin Allie was studying and angered off mum, because of her 'anger issues'. Haha, yes, she has 'anger management issues' and she doesn't know it, and its becoming seriously annoying . So mum went to a concert for her 'cooling off' time and I'm stuck at home with dad, until when HE GOES OFF WITH HIS FRIEND leaving me with his friend's daughter! I'm still in that ' awkward state' with that daughter of my dad 's friend. We are still in the same house with her, and I guess we are minding our minding our own work, so... yeah. I guess we can't do anything about that. :( GTG. :)

End of the Year WOO HOO! :D

• I can't believe it's end of the year already ! Wow. Another 365 days past in my life. It seems a LOT happened in my life in 2013, and it's very exciting, actually, aging a one year older,but I guess this would picture as different as people by people. In Korea, we do, have a traditon, as in the end of the year, but I think this would accord to any one of you. We spend time with our families, and congratulate of another year that has past.
• However, I guess this part is different to your country to mine : we celebrate the new year but the countdown, yes, but by ringing a giant bell with celebrities, and we watch it by tv.
• And as in the new year, we celebrate a holiday called 'sul nal' , by the meanings of 'new' , and we also celebrate this with our family, eating a meal called 'dduk gook', which is a greasy soup with meat and rice cake, (:called dduck in korean) which is very delicous and we believe that by eating a meal with dduk gook, we will age one year older.

[Movie] Catching Fire A TRUE REVIEW

• Hey guys, did you guys watch the new exciting and awesome movie Catching Fire? :D I did, and hereeeees a review for YOU!Okayyyy, I'm a BIG fan of the Hunger games like you guys, pretending to be Katniss, with imaginary arrows when the first movie came out, and I read the WHOLE series and watched the two movies of the series... YES, I'm a BOOKWORM myself, don't look at me like you don't believe me , hun. Haha, calling people 'hun' gives me the laughes.. It's just a funny way to call people ! :D
• Anyway, I was a big fan of myself, and I guess the basic story of CATCHING FIRE is the bridge to mocking jay, and a ordinary victor, scared of the CAPITOL, in Katniss's view. More specifically, (HAH! a smart word! ) As the beginning of the movie, Katniss and Peeta goes on about their fake love story, this way and that, I love you or not , one of those dilemmas, after the hunger games. With a kiss with Peeta and Katniss at the beginning of the movie! ( Of fake love, of course.) But Katniss also kisses Gale, at their favourite place, the FORBIDDEN FORESTS! (Me: OHHH, No yea don't girl! )Yeah, and she soon meets that guy, you know, the man called Snow, threathening Katniss, of 'more genuine act' of Katniss ver. Peeta, causing the rebels to outgrow. And as the suspicion grow of Snow, the president of the capitiol, soon holds an ANOTHER HUNGERGAMES- i mean get a life old man! - including KATNISS and PEETA, and it seems to them there is no way out for them again for their ' love stories'. And can you guess who they put in THIS hunger games! DING DING DING! That's right, they put in ALL THE PREVIOUS VICTORS of each districts, which makes it harder for them ! ( Why do you do this Susan) But there IS a twist ... so be tuned guys! But you can't miss the heartbreaking scenes of Katniss wearing her canceled wedding dress, and her falling in to Peeta-ster. :) ///
• For my opinion, it was great and all, but I can give you a halt for those who are waiting for answers for PEETA OR GALE. In this movie, its more of a dilemma movie than a decision movie, so if you are waiting for that, you should probably wait for the MOCKING JAY movie, which are they fimiling now ... :3 I loved it, with a ALL NEW HUNGER GAMES among them, and I was like- HOLLY SMOKE- OH WAIT THEY WON'T DIE. THEY ARE THE MAIN CHARACTERS- but I guess the end was a bit wobbly, and you will see what I mean, cause I can't SPOIL IT HERE ! HAHAHAHAH. But I guess it's worth to see, for a hunger games fan, but I guess it's a fact that BOOKS ARE BETTER. And for lastly- nervous that my computer will break with a pink screan- don't buy on 4D, like me, it didn't have any effects, yet wind blowing and moving and a JUNGLE scent, but if you want too, 'be part of the hunger games' You may ! :) For me : it was a star 4.5! :)

Hey world ! and every potato living in the planet earth! :) I wanted to do that one day ;) Okay, it took a million of years to write A POST, since this stupid computer don't work. Yes, our computer is old, - elderly, I prefer- and nowdays it figured out to turn the screen all pink and stuff. It is irratating- well, it is, shiny and all, and all the blinky effect it has, but you wouldn't understand. I almost grabed a hammer and brake my computer into like, millions of peices. What? I'm NOT quick temper okay? okayyyy smiles on ! :-) *PUTS ON A FAKE SMILE* ohh right, this blog, of Just Nikki, (Which I stole the title from my twin's blog JUST ALLIE, just search it in google, ) I'm gonna post random stufff, with a bit of sarcasm and humor, and what a teenage korean girl would like on her typical life ! Yay! *self applause * And also people who want to know about korea, or just i don't know, people in Korea. Now, enjoy people and potatos :)
